Sonnet - Please

Please don't leave me darling -- I'm still here;
I promise I'm not going anywhere;
I know that you'd react with shock and fear --
The only reason you can't sense me there.

I love you, darling. I have since the start.
Thirty years of matrimonial bliss,
I'm sorry that my death forced us to part,
But I would die again for one more kiss.

I know, darling -- you need to move on,
And you deserve to live a happy life.
I'm jealous of him, but you're right: I'm gone,
And I've no right to you, my precious wife.

I want you to be happy, every day...
But don't forget me, or I'll fade away.
